UK Charts: Toy Story 3 stays top, Red Dead moves up

toystory

Toy Story 3 remained top of the UK charts this week, despite a resurgence from Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption.

The popular open world westerner, which climbed three spaces to number two, has no doubt felt the benefits of the Legends and Killers DLC which was released on both PSN and Xbox Live last week.

Meanwhile, Modern Warfare 2, which managed to climb to number two last week, will have to wait at least one more week before surpassing Brain Training as the biggest ever selling game in the UK. The popular shooter only managed to reach number eight, although what’s another week we reckon.

Get the top ten for the week ending August 14 below. Last week’s data is here.

Any idea what version of Toy Story 3 is driving sales?

I’d imagine it’s the Wii version, but i’d be interested to know whether the Zurg DLC has any effect on PS3 sales.

So Starcraft 2 is no longer in the top 10…

@2

I was going to say it’s because pc sales aren’t tracked in the chart… But I checked last weeks, and sure enough SCII was there.

That’s one hell of a decline.

@ 7
Starcraft – single format and managed to outsell most of the titles in the top 10. And, those figures didnt include digital sales

I’m kind of thinking that 99% of the people who wanted SCII would’ve been there day one, anyway.

@9, not so sure about that.

I reckon there are plenty out there who would like the game, but don’t have the hardware as they’re not PC gamers, they’ll probably just wait until they “need” a new computer (read: mistreat the old one until it stops working properly), end up with something that’ll run SCII and go for it.

There are also those such as myself who would prefer to buy all 3 campaigns at once.

The Original didn’t sell anything like 8 million in it’s 1st year either, but it did sell 8 million+ lifetime.

@1: Individual format charts say…

8th: DS
17th: PS3
21st: Wii
26th: 360

Oh, and regarding Starcraft (for other posters). It’s 6th in the individual formats chart, 12th in all formats.
