DLC announced for Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light

Friday, 6th August 2010 21:14 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light hits XBLA on August 18, something you already knew.

But did you know it was hitting PC via Steam and PSN on September 28 and that it was getting some DLC lovin’ this year? No? Now you know.

On the same day it releases on Steam and PSN, Crystal Dynamics will offer a free update for Xbox 360 which introduces a two player online co-op as well as full leaderboard support and voice chat functionality.

Plus, “additional packs” and a “few surprises” are expected until the end of 2010.

From October to December, five packs will be made available across all formats. The first three are expansion packs featuring a combination of all new puzzles, exploration and combat in the game and new areas to explore.

The further two packs are playable character packs, offering gamers the chance to experience the entire adventure without Lara and Totec by playing instead with some other “well-known videogame characters”.

Hrmm. Wonder who those will be?

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be available on Xbox Live August 18, and September 29 on Steam and PSN for 1200 MSP/$14.99.

Hang on this is a game very much centered on co-op and the xbox version won’t get online co-op till over a month after release, thats a bit shit really, also would love Raziel and Kain in this, may be a bit surreal but perhaps Kane and Lynch will be in it too!

great, more dlc rip-off. I guess it’s a part of their ‘digital strategy’.

Since this is now a Squenix game, they’ll probably be all clever and dump a bunch of Final Fantasy characters in there. Much rather have Kain but lets face it, not enough people care at this point. Wich is a shame.

Clearly each platform should play host to their respective videogame couples: Gordon and Alyx on PC, Drake and Elena on PS3, and Marcus and Dom for 360.

Seems a bit strange that the 360 version’s being released without a fairly vital feature. Rather smacks of them wanting the boost of being part of the Summer of Arcade but not actually having enough time to finish up the game.

Cute?! It’s amazing.. It should have been plastered all over this post.

Next time, less journalistic integrity and more pandering to awful puns :)

“DLC for us means Downloadable Lara Croft,” said Darrell Gallagher, General Manager of Crystal Dynamics.

    yes, he really said that.

It’s launching without online co-op? Seriously?

No online co-op = no sale to be honest.

Apparantly the reason is because it’s not actually finished. That would explain the “free dlc” at a later date.
