Critierion’s Need for Speed called Hot Pursuit, out on November 16

It’s official: Criterion Games’ Need for Speed title is now known as Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.
It seems to be a proper old-school, cops vs robbers title. Back to the old days of the series. Hooah.
It’s out on November 16 in the US and November 19 in Europe and uses Autolog to allow players to compare racing stats and automatically get personalized gameplay recommendations from their friends.
Hot Pursuit allows for full careers as both a cop and a racer – solo or connected via Need for Speed Autolog. This network not only connects friends, but also enables players to compare performances and stats to others not on their buddy list.
Neato. Watch the trailer below.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but there have already been 2 (yes, two) NFS games bearing that moniker, right?!?

I am almost interested in this. Just that we have had the two versions before and it looks stale even before I play it. That being said I enjoyed the Hot Pursuit games, this is a good example of why I am so jaded. As a gamer it feels like I have played everything already. What is left is redos, remakes, and sequels.

It’s about time they went back to what the franchise was really about, fuck the car tuning/customisation leave that to other racing games. I wonder if they are going to have localised cops like Need For Speed 4, that would be fantastic.

I’m so pumped for this man. Hot Pursuit is legend and now that Critierion is behind this one makes the wait unbearable!

This looks good… but it’d have to be simply stellar for it to tear me away from Split/Second.
