Bleszinski: Heavy Rain has “hideous” children [Update]

Update: This was a “joke,” according to the man himself.

Original: Heavy Rain has received praise from many developers and critics recently, however one particular big name isn’t especially enamoured with the game’s children.

Speaking in an interview with GameReactor, Gears of War boss Cliff Bleszinski said that he loves the game; but he does have one particular dislike.

“Yes, [Heavy Rain] really grows on me. But, even if I feel it’s a really good game, I don’t think they have done enough to avoid the ‘uncanny valley’ problems,” he said.

“The children in the game are some of the most hideous I have seen. Ever.

“But the game has really grabbed me and the scene early on where you are at the shopping mall trying to find your kid is very effective.”

Perhaps creating less revolting children is something Quantic Dream can add to the list of improvements for its next game.

Heavy Rain was released in February, exclusively to PS3.

Must admit ‘Cliffy’ is right. If my children would look like that, cosmetic surgery would be an option. But let’s see if he himself can avoid the uncanny valley problem. The character models in Gears aren’t great either.

This is rediculous.
Ive read the whole interview with him and he goes on to big-up this game so much, he says one dumb thing and its news?! He even goes on to say hes hooked on the game and thinks QD has made a new genre of game etc. Nope a 360 saying that is out of the question right?

To be fair, i honestly thought the kids were a little….. off too! Not to mention “water” was so terribly done.

So…. GOTY?

The design of this own game are awful, Epic have bad taste, bulletstorm is ugly like hell.
Heavy Rain is nice, sorry cliffy….

What with his “uncanny valley” comment, i’d assume he’s talking more about the way children are pictured in the game then their physical appearance. And i have to agree, their voice acting and script is terrible and stereotypical.

@ 4 yeah, that’s kinda unnessecary , agree. He praises them, but just says one negative thing about the game, and there’s nothing wrong with that. And BAM it makes the headlines, come on now.

So, Mr. Bleszinski only likes good looking children?

Personally I found the child voice actors more off-putting than the character models and animation. I’d imagine their weird accents would be even more jarring were I American.
