Screens - Horses in Red Dead Redemption

rdr

One of the things you've obviously noticed while perusing through the many screens and videos of Red Dead Redemption, are all the different mounts you can attain or tame within the game.

These mounts are the result of motion captures taken of a Hollywood stunt horse named Blanco,  along with meticulous research on equine muscle and skeletal structure, as well as horse breeds like the Mustang and Friesian.

This neat bit of information was revealed through Rockstar's art department director, Josh Bass, over on Gamespot.

It's a rather interesting read that reveals the different movements obtained through the mo-cap process, along with how the team strived for absolute realism in the way the tack looks and moves while being worn by your mount.

We'll see how it all came together once the game's released next week.

In the meantime, check out the screens below.
