Millions to be spent on FFXIII ad campaign in UK, says Square

Square Enix has told MCV that the company aims to spend millions on its ad campaign for Final Fantasy XIII.
Beginning from March 1, the campaign will run through into Easter and April with TV commercials planned during football matches.
The company’s bus-side advertising has also increased 75 percent in the UK, with its biggest investment in video-on-demand media.
“We aim to make Final Fantasy XIII not only the biggest game release, but one of the biggest entertainment releases of Q1,” said Grant Tasker, UK product manager.
FFXIII is out on March 9 in the west for PS3 and 360.

Wonder if they’ll be a platform association…

Probably. That’s the way these things usually go down.

I’m guessing there will be a sony connection. I can’t see sony wanting to lose the perceived connection they have to FF especially when there is a good chance this is one of the few titles that could really outsell the 360 counterpart

The ps3 version is on very high demand no1 in preorder and wish lists (for all consoles games preorder list) in most sites EU and US while the 360 version has above 10th place in some even above 20th.
A very rare ocassion where the ps3 version will outsell the 360 one indeed

I know one thing for certain. I’ve seen enough to be able to say that I wont be buying it for either console.

That’s the case Psycho with almost every FF in the series before it’s release in the west…a lot of negativity and hate.This time is even worse.We can tell why
But if you check preordes in most sites you’ll even see that it’s above GoW III…of course these are just indications and nothing more

I have absolutely no doubt it’ll sell well. Was really just speaking for myself as I’ve gone from massive hype, to pre-order, to seeing the game, to reading the impressions, to seeing the international trailer, to stabbing myself in the ears, to cancelling my pre-order, to never looking back.

i can see your point psycho…also that OST is abysmal,i try my best not to judge the game by that.
If you haven’t already and you have the time read these articles from Dale North at Destructoid about the ten good parts of this game and the ten bad…non biased and spoiler free.This guy is good at it

I’m really in two minds about it still. I kind of feel like I should be excited because it’s a new FF, but the last few have been such disappointments that I can’t see myself picking this up until it hits the bargain bins.

I think it goes the other way. I’m not enough of a woman to get sucked into that god awful love story and wailing banshee love song.
…and with that, fuck work for the night, I sleep.

Hmm, maybe I should explain why I lashed out at you in a slightly ott way…
(aww hangover remorse, that’s so cute, don’t you just love fridays)
It’s because
“to seeing the game, to reading the impressions, to seeing the”
doing stuff like that is a good way to kill the magic isn’t it? You haven’t even played the game, annoyed me slightly…
Then you apparantly stated that hanging out at this forum being all businesslike is your actual job (?), so… Um, yeah.
Just trying to say that reading too much about any game before it’s released isn’t… good. Imo. When I was a kid and just started gaming I didn’t even know what a ‘review’ was yet, I just bought games because I liked the boxart and the pictures on the back, and I usually enjoyed them (very much indeed). It was magic I tell you, MAGIC!
Liking a game is all subjective in the end isn’t it, no point in arguing about taste I guess…
There, glad that’s off my chest, I’ll just fuck off into the saturday night now, thanks…

Que? I had finished working (like, you know a job, the thing that pays money) and I was going to bed.

Look at all you elitists with your shiny jobs!
Ugh. Makes me sick. Or maybe thats me gagging on this silver spoon?
Either way – I would always lack the money, or the motivation to ask mummy or pa-pa for this game. I think I am about ready to d/l a PSone classic or two, now that FFVIII has gone up on the store.

@PT
Um nevermind, I misread that then, guess I’m just paranoid… It’s all a great big conspiracy and none of you are real I say (or so I’ve been told), so there! :p
@PUD
First of all, lol…
If that was a jab at me, I don’t know who you take me for, it’s more like a rusty wooden spoon, and I kind of deserve all I’m gagging on, so there!
And yes, do please buy FFVIII, it’s a beautiful game, if you’re into that sort of thing… ( god awful love stories and wailing banshees
)

Damp cloth? Luxury. We’d have to wet the cloth with our tears, then hand it to our father so he could have the first drink, then to our mother, and then, after the cloth had been used to do the washing up, then we might be allowed to have some. But only if we’d been good.
