Bethesda just confirmed Fallout: New Vegas for an autumn release this year for PC, 360 and PS3.

The first teaser trailer for the title has also been released. Get it below.

The game “will be featured in magazine cover stories around the world in the month of February,” the company just said.

There’s very little info on the Obsidian game itself, other than, “Fallout: New Vegas takes all the action, humor, and post-apocalyptic grime and grit of this legendary series, and raises the stakes.”

PR and trailer below.

Obsidian, the creators of Alpha Protocol , right? A game that looks like it has alot of potential, but what i saw in Germany last year at the gameplay demonstration…it really didn’t like all that good at all.

So these are NOT the developers of Fallout 3?

Some of the guys at Obsidian created the first Fallouts.

Ah right, when the game wasn’t first person at all yet. I never got to play those though, but this one will be just like Fallout 3 right? Oh man, i love that game, i freaking love it!

Anyway, i am dying to see the trailer, but when i go to that site i get a Elder Scrolls site, not Fallout.

Weird enough that site doesn’t work for me…but i found it here. Oh man, it’s just a teaser but for me this could be GOTY when it comes out. Fallout 3 surely was my GOTY that year.

Well, the character at the end reminds me a bit of Helghast actually, lol. But this teaser is alot like the very first F3 teaser/trailer. Nothing is known about what engine they are using and anything else, right?

It’ll be the Fallout 3 engine again. It’s basically a new story within the same framework.

That city looks like it’s fully running. That would be a first.

@blerk

I hope they do a bit of work on the engine even when Fallout 3 was released the characters ran about a little bit special needs style.

Yeah, but the graphics are stil very good looking. And i loved the atmosphere/feel in that game, and the decisions you could make. In fact…i’ll go fire up F3 now, to start some sidequests i still have left to do.

Awesome trailer, nice to see the NCR (New California Republic) back in the game too.

But Bethesda’s very own new game still needs to be revealed , right? The developers of Oblivion and Fallout 3.

i think i can make out the stratosphere in the skyline of the city

That did look like an active city there rather than people living in the ruins. A New California Republic flag at the end too. I’m expecting good things.

I’m guessing the plot is that the NCR are at war with the people in New Vegas then.

The NCR are actually the good guys compared to original BoS (F3 Outcasts) and Enclave.

More info for those who haven’t played original Fallouts

BTW is this actually fallout 4 then?

#25

Erthazus
04/02/10, 4:31 pm

Better make this like Fallout 1-2 because they have all guys in Obsidian who made Fallout 1, 2 and Van Buren.

If they will make it like Fallout 3 then its again FAIL.

Petulant Radish
04/02/10, 4:32 pm

isn’t the reason that phrase never changes because it’s the tag line of the series? And is it Ron Pearlman uttering the line this time?

#27

The Benny
04/02/10, 4:38 pm

It definitely sounded like Perlman. I figured they were just using the same clip from Fallout 3.

@Yoshi: I don’t think this counts as Fallout 4, which is why it’s set so far away and doesn’t have a number in the title. Bethesda will be working on the new Elder Scrolls and Fallout 4, hopefully with a shiny new engine.

#28

Gekidami

Honnestly i think numbering the Fallout games is pointless at this point anyway.

#29

Petulant Radish
04/02/10, 4:51 pm

Pointless at this point? Is that even possible? I like numbering everything, especially poos, I’m going for poo number two now in fact, I’ll tell you all about it when I get back…

04/02/10, 4:59 pm

lol yes if they make this game anything like Fallout 3 its fail. /sarcasm

To bad Fallout 3 was a smash hit and nobody cares if you’re still butt hurt.

And looked like Someone from NCR was about to attack New Vegas. Can’t wait.

#31

The Benny
04/02/10, 4:59 pm

It is a little odd seeing as New Vegas is more of a sequel to the first two than Fallout 3 was, being in a similar location with some of the same groups, while the actual Fallout 3 is essentially a separate story.

#32

DJ Deathstar
04/02/10, 5:43 pm

@26

It is Ron Perlman and it always is him in every fallout game

Do not want. F3 was crap.

“Honnestly i think numbering the Fallout games is pointless at this point anyway.”

You completely missed the point of numbering games.

When I game received a numbered sequels, it’s generally a good indication that is a proper sequel, as opposed to to a spin-off or side story. Generally, a “proper” sequel entails major advances in game mechanics, more evolved gameplay and presentation, a new engine, or an official continuation of the lore / storyline.

Fallout 4 will be released when Bethesda feels decide to create something significantly improved upon Fallout 3, as opposed to Fallout: New Vegas which is simply using the same engine.

#35

Erthazus
04/02/10, 6:03 pm

@30 it was smash hit for casual console players. Of course. You can go play F3 more.
They destroyed everything from VATS till dialogs and story.

#36

Gekidami
04/02/10, 6:06 pm

Yeah but the thing is Fallout 3 wasnt a direct sequel, it went on in the same world, its cannon, but its not attached to the story of the first or second.

#37

Michael O’Connor
04/02/10, 6:09 pm

It doesn’t have to have a direct story. But it was a major evolution of past titles in the franchise, and it was the first game in the series for almost a decade, using a completely new engine.

This is why GTAIV is a proper sequel and Vice City or San Andreas are not. They just built on an existing engine, with no true evolution to the game.

I hope they make it different then the first, the only part I liked of Fallout 3 was The Pitt and The Sanctuary.
