PS3 Motion Controler delayed to “fall 2010″

Wednesday, 20th January 2010 06:21 GMT By Patrick Garratt

Hardly the greatest shock in the world, but Sony’s just confirmed by press release that its PS3 Motion Controller – tipped yesterday to be called Arc - won’t ship until this autumn.

“We have decided to release the Motion Controller in fall 2010 when we will be able to offer an exciting and varied line-up of software titles that will deliver the new entertainment experience to PS3 users, ” said SCE head Kaz Hirai.

“We will continue to work to have a comprehensive portfolio of attractive and innovative games for the Motion Controller, not only from SCE Worldwide Studios but also from the third party developers and publishers, whom we have been working closely with.

“We look forward to soon unveiling the exciting software line-up that further expands and defines the PS3 platform as the ultimate entertainment system for the home.”

Sony went on to add that it intends to SCE “vigorously promote the Motion Controller as the de facto controller of the PS3 platform along with the DUALSHOCK series controller” and “will deploy various measures to enhance the software title line-up for the Motion Controller, delivering groundbreaking interactive entertainment only possible on the PS3 platform.”

Until today, the company had said that the Motion Controller – the official name thus far – will release “this year”: global boss Kaz Hirai had previously claimed it would be out this March last August.

We saw PlayStation’s tech guys running the system at Develop last year; get the news from that here.

So yeah. This autumn for your glowy Arc sticks. You can wait, right?

Writing has been on the wall since September after Kaz Hirai’s keynote, considering we’ve heard nout since

The warning sirens only came on last week when SCEA released the NPD reaction, and showed the motion controller for just 2010.

that realy comes with no surprise. if a march (? never) or at least spring release would have been still aimed at, there defo would be a massive lack of info about it by now.. OK, it has a name since yesterday, but thats it.

Well, I guess that’s the motion-control bit of Resi 5 Gold scuppered, then. :-D

Not really a surprise, this. And it does give the two waggleatrons the chance to go head to head when they launch. So they can both get spanked by the Wii at Christmas. Again.

    lol blerk. most likely.
but i dont see nintendo as a videogame thing anymore.
They have built a new industry – ripping money from clueless, modest non-gamers. With mario, zelda, metroid they also get the money from the die hard fans who cant realize that bigN is not for them anymore.

Yeah who comes up with “but, blah…”? yeah, ur right, but, the core audience of this blog, i assume, doenst get satisfied with nintendo.

so those i put attention to are Sony and MS, nintendo not anymore, where sony meets my taste best with the way they are doing and handling things.

Not that surprised I mean it wasn’t even shown at CES.

But what about RE5 gold then?

Like I said the other day, the 360 version doesn’t have motion control anyway so its likely it’ll launch as planned on both platforms but without the motion control in the PS3 version. No doubt they’ll be able to patch it in later if they wish, but to be honest it’ll probably be too late by then for it to make any kind of impact. I’m kind of suspecting that it’ll never actually make it into the public version of the game now.

Pretty much. I’d love to know what it is with Sony and delays though.

You’d think they would have thought about trying to release it with a bit of a gap between itself and Natal, still at this rate it will be released afterwards since im seeing alot more news regarding Natal than Arc

It was never goin to release anytime soon the only reason it was brought out at the show was because everything else they had coming out had already been seen because of leaks and its no where near completion and they didn’t want another nail in the coffin there just playing catch up R.I.P PS3 you never had a chance Sony you need to innovate or DIE

there’s been a lot of secrecy behind Sony nowadays…and delays.
I think it might be their way they are handling competition.Going defensive, observe the competitors and finally show their aces up their sleeves
