First ever Gran Turismo 5 gameplay gets out, damage shown off in limited capability
Gran Turismo 5 is on the showfloor in Cologne this week.
Is it the bees knees? Well, we’ll be the judge of that when it releases. But for now, Gamersyde has up two brand new gameplay videos of GT5 from the showfloor.
One shows off proper racing and the other shows off damage for the game at last after years demanding it for the game! Or at least, showing it in a limited way: as in not on retail cars but in racing cars.
The videos are after the jump. The game’s date is tbc, but it’s looking very, very likely it’ll be out at Christmas.
And while it is on the showfloor, why was it absent from SCEE’s GamesCom presser? Click here to get your answer.

Nitpick… that interview you linked to doesn’t actually say WHY it was absent, just that you should expect to hear more soon.

Damn… I mean. This game is a whole other ‘pretty’. It’s astounding.
And the damage is great, if you can drive properly. But I am disappointed that it’s not on road cars. Glad that they all have cockpit though, and that the games physics look seriously improved.
And as Psychotext said on NeoGAF, doors don’t fall off all the time.

And the track is awesome, becuase the Sony Computer Entertainment (International) Japan building is in it. So Fumito Ueda will be working on his project as you drive by, you should wave, or throw a brick with threatening letters.

Dude… This is a well established thing. I stalk you.
Anyway, if you happen to be posting in a thread I am reading and you say something that is true, and annoys me. I will regurgitate it.

Psycho, you used a different shampoo on your hair this morning. What was wrong with your old brand?

I had one of the same thoughts the other day.
VG247 is possibly the best site I have ever been on.

I second that PUD but don’t let Garratt know, he might become the next Bobby Kotick

Oh dear, oh dear.
Why would they even bother with such a half-arsed damage implementation? Make it realistic or don’t bloody bother!

It certainly looks pretty, alarmingly and disturbingly photo-realistic pretty, even.
But the gameplay still looks the same as it did 12 years ago, and its starting to look horrendously out-dated in that area.

Yes, not particularly impressed by the way the car bounces off the barrier. Very PS2.

I agree the gameplay has to change somewhat, extras like photo mode are nice but this will still kinda feel like a ps2 game

You guys are crazy.
The physics chnages alone make me WORRY it’s not got that Gran Turismo feel.
I have never seen cars be so ‘mobile’ in Gran Turismo.
