Mass Effect 2 dev: “Hang on to your Mass Effect 1 saves”

BioWare QA chap Jack Lamden has confirmed that those hankering for Mass Effect 2 will benefit from hanging onto their progress from the first games.
“Hang on to your Mass Effect 1 saves,” said the developer in a forum post.
How saved from the first game will affect play in the sequel is unconfirmed.
The first Mass Effect 2 movie was shown last night, as seen here.
No date or platforms for the game have been announced as yet.

I’m guessing that your decisions will effect how the second game will start. Which is AWESOME!

Well even if it only means you get to carry over your character and items – that at least is something pretty great!

Actually it’s gotta make some differences. Because depending on your decisions not all your team mates make it to the end of the first game.
So assuming Mass Effect 2 has all the same team mates – your save will dictate which ones are alive and which ones are dead…

Well that sort of confirms the platforms, doesn’t it?

Not too sure. I doubt the game is only playable by people who have completed the first one.
Also, it was so obvious he wasn’t dead it’s untrue. Amazed that people thought otherwise, tbh.

Not dead. But how about transferred into a Geth body?

The trailer kinda suggests that…

The trailer suggests nothing like that.
Just a generic “make it look like he’s dead but actually being a super secret agent, like Jack Bauer” set up.

Ok my take on the trailer was that the text said Sheppard is dead. It then shows a geth wearing Sheppard’s N7 armour. It’s very open to interpretation for sure – but by implication it shows Sheppard could be a geth…

I wouldn’t be happy with that. Would seem silly considering all you accomplish in the first game.

UGh my game save got deleted so I’m fucked.
Lost 18 hours of gameplay and do not feel like doing that all over again.

I played this through three times (custom femme Shepherd to Level 50, then with the default male to lvl 50 as a Sentinel, then back to my custom femme to level her up to lvl 60

I’m sorry but I don’t feel like playing throughout all that story and dialogue over again. The only game I would really do that for is Lost Odyssey.

I’ve just got the PC version to play through again. Just for kicks. I’m gonna be a bird this time I reckon. Or perhaps not.
Anyway. ME is probably the defining RPG of this generation of consoles.

As I’ve said elsewhere, the female Shepherd actress does a much better job of adding emotion to her dialogue. Helps I like her voice, mind

Jennifer Hale is teh awesome. I fall in love with her everytime she speaks. She does quite a few games, she was Bastila in KOTOR too.

Jennifer Hale is awesome.
To show how awesome she is, go play MGS1 and MGS4

Oh yeah!
Forgot she was Emma in Sons of Liberty.
The story may have been slightly pish but c’mon, her (Hale) and Randolph together were amazing…. right until the bit after… ya know her last bit.
Not gonna ruin it for fear of spoilers but basiclly, the most emotional bit imo from Sons of Liberty.
