Sonic celebrates 17th birthday

sonicart.jpg

According to SegaNerds, Sonic the Hedgehog was 17 years old yesterday.

Apparently, Sonic the Hedgehog was released in North America and Europe on June 23, 1991, with Japanese gamers having to wait until late July for the game. We have no idea if this is true or not, but we’re prepared to believe.

Happy birthday, Sonic. Here’s to another 17 years of running in a straight line.

I don’t know, the Chinese might disagree, but this is looking to be the year of the hedgehog. Between Sonic Chronicles and Sonic Unleashed, I’m actually sorta, kinda, well-at-least-I-get-a-cool-sticker-after-the-dentist-mercilessly-rips-my-teeth-out hopeful for the blue blur.

Vahn – Agree. I’m not a massive DS fan, but I’ll definitely play Unleashed. Those two games together do bode very well for the little man this year, you’re right.

Time for Sonic to be put out of our misery, I think.

I reckon he’s going to be running in a straight line for a good while yet.
