Total War: Warhammer 2 shows off its enormous scale as this first campaign trailer showcases two continents

Total War: Warhammer 2 is going to be big.

This trailer shows off Ulthuan, the home of the High Elves and their terrifying Great Vortex. These are a people that 'love politics' and who keep their homelands well protected by enormous fortress walls. Dragons fly overhead and auroras grace their skies. The camera takes you on a tour in the trailer above, weaving between mountains and, at one point, passing right by a dragon as it casually soars.

The trailer takes us across the oceans - which you'll have to send your forces across to expand, by the look of things, "risking encounters with deadly storms" - into Lustria, where the races of the Old World have gathered. You can choose to either attack these people or make them your allies, apparently. This is a different, wilder land, covered in forests and volcanoes and monsters.

Eventually the trailer sends us into Lizardman territory, and who doesn't want to see what the Lizardmen are up to? If you're well versed in Warhammer lore, all of this might mean a bit more to you than it does to me, but if you're just a Total War fan there's still plenty to get excited about - the world looks huge.

Total War: Warhammer 2 launches for PC on September 28. If you're a huge fan, perhaps consider the Deluxe Serpent God edition.
