Call of Duty: Modern Warfare cinematic multiplayer match intro shown off for the first time

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is making those pre-round moments in multiplayer more exciting.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward is continuing to slowly tease various parts of the multiplayer experience. Following the Gunsmith tease, today's reveal comes in the form of a brief video showing one of the game's intros into multiplayer matches.

Matches start out with a short cinematic showing all players approaching their team's spawn locations. This time around, the team is being dropped by a helicopter. This should be a bit more interesting than your typical ten or 15-second wait at the start of each game, especially since it doesn't look like you'll be waiting longer as a result of this brief intro.

It's very similar to Titanfall's match intros, and those seen in Call of Duty: WW2's War mode, showing actual players in the scene - though without nametags. The video, which you can watch below, also gives us a brief look at the Gun Runner map.

Separately, Infinity Ward communications manager Ashton Williams confirmed on Reddit that players can choose to play as a female soldier in multiplayer. This isn't surprising, but good to see it officially addressed.

All will be revealed at Modern Warfare's big multiplayer reveal on August 1.
