A new Red Dead Redemption 2 datamine has revealed the possibility of player-owned vehicles, and properties, which could be our first hint about Red Dead Online.
The leaks originate from Rockstar Intel, who found several references within Red Dead Redemption 2 files to vehicles, horses, and other properties.
The site believes these to be tied to Red Dead Online, as the single-player mode doesn’t currently allow players to purchase houses or vehicles.
Though most of these have placeholder prices and often lack even the vaguest description, the findings at least indicate we’ll be able to own vehicles in Red Dead Online. Of course, there’s no way to verify this at present, and they may well be intended for the single-player portion of Red Dead Redemption 2, to be available in a future update.
Horse Cart, Small Coach, Chuck Wagon, Chuck Wagon (Gatling), Supply Wagon, Utility Wagon, War Wagon are the names of the vehicles the site dug up. We already know that players will be able to own horses in Red Dead Online, and the leak lists a few of their names as well.
Even less is known about the properties, with only one of them offering a description. “Rugged homeliness in the countryside,” it reads. Property names and prices weren’t available in the datamine, either.
The Red Dead Online beta is planned to start sometime this month, through Rockstar has yet to pin down a date. Assuming the mode has a similar structure to GTA Online’s, owning homes, and vehicles should be one of the many things we’ll be able to do.
We’re hoping Rockstar will announce a more concrete launch date for Red Dead Online soon, assuming it hasn’t been delayed.
Until then, we’ll keep updating our Red Dead Redemption 2 guide – which you should definitely read.
