Hamsterdam is a beat 'em up brawler from the makers of Guns of Icarus

Guns of Icarus' developer, Muse Games, has revealed its completely bonkers next project.

Hamsterdam is the name of the game, a kung fu hamster-fu beat 'em up starring Pimm, a hamster who must save the titular town from Marlo and his Rodent Gang.

The premise is absurd (in a good way), and the gameplay looks interesting. Hamsterdam is designed for mobile devices as well as PC, Nintendo Switch (including motion controls), and PS Vita.

The mobile version, shown in the trailer below, makes use of timed swipes in combat - though we're not sure how this will translate over to PC. There's definitely a rhythm component to combat which should make it more engaging than your typical swipe to punch phone games.

Muse Games has taken the idea to Kickstarter, with the goal of reaching a very modest $8,000 in funding. The concept appears fleshed out already, hence the small sum being asked for. Muse says the money will be spent on creating additional art and music, as well as polishing up the combat and making sure it works well on all devices.

The developer promises three maps with unlockable stages, boss fights and a lots of customisation options. You can check out the campaign at the link above or give the trailer and screens below a look.

Hamsterdam does not yet have a release date. The Kickstarter campaign ends in 45 days.
