Yuji Naka, the mastermind behind the Sonic the Hedgehog series, has joined Square Enix to work on an unannounced game.

Yuji Naka is best known as the creator of Sonic the Hedgehog, having lead Sonic Team and worked as a programmer on many of its iterations. Naka also contributed to other Sega franchises like Phantasy Star.

Today, the designer announced that he joined Square Enix earlier this month. Naka didn’t share details about what he’s going to be working on at Square, but he did say it’ll be an “enjoyable game.”

In 2006, Yuji Naka left Sega to establish his own studio, Prope. The team created a couple of Digimon games for PSP and PS3, but it’s most known for Rodea the Sky Soldier for Wii and Wii U.

It’s not clear if Prope will continue without Naka’s guidance, or if he’s going to remain involved in some capacity.
