Rainbow Six Siege is crashing real hard on PS4 after the latest update, so save yourself some grief and don't open the friends list

Rainbow Six Siege players with no friends are, for once, the lucky ones.

The Rainbow Six Siege Blood Orchid update seems pretty rad, but its most recent patch has introduced a nasty issue to the PS4 build.

The problem seems to arise when players open the friends list, and causes system crashes. Most players are reporting their PS4 freezes or restarts, but some Reddit users say it has bricked their console, requiring a full reset. That's always a risk if your hardware shuts down while it's in the middle of doing something complicated, so do yourself a favour and try to avoid the friends list altogether for the moment.

The latest update from Ubisoft was issued about 13 hours before publication of this article, and directed users to Ubisoft Support, which offered the following statement on the matter:

"PS4 crashing issue since the new patch: Players have reported a crashing issue regarding the party invitation. We are cooperating with Sony on this issue and would advise you to not use this feature until a resolution is found.

In the meantime, you can keep yourself updated on our official Twitter channel. We apologise for any inconvenience."

So follow Ubisoft Support on Twitter, I guess - and just don't use the friends list for now.

This is a real shame as Rainbow Six Siege is perfectly playable via matchmaking but a lot more fun with pre-formed crews - and teams are probably pretty keen to be playing while Blood Orchid is still so fresh.
