Speaking with GamesRadar after EA’s press conference yesterday, Bioware said the Mako will be an interesting vehicle to drive this time out, thanks to the Need for Speed team.

“When we thought about bringing the Mako back, we said: We can’t bring the Mako back as an iteration of the Mako,” said studio manager Aaron Flynn. “It has to be a high quality experience that compares well to any driving simulation by doing that.”

With the game being developed using the Frostbite engine, since other teams at EA are also using it, bringing the Need for Speed team on board seemed a no-brainer.

“They were more than happy to lend a hand and offer advice and guidance to our developers to make sure that the Mako, when we actually get it all done, drives and plays great,” said Flynn. “It doesn’t feel like you have those many, many edge cases the Mako in [the first Mass Effect] had where you could do crazy stuff with it. So that won’t be there, knock on wood.”

Thankfully, this time out the Mako will be easier to control and more fun to take across the open spaces in the game.

Mass effect: Andromeda is slated for release in early 2017, and just today, Amazon seems to have leaked exactly when: March 31, 2017. The retailer also added some interesting gameplay details as well to the listing.
