Livelock is an upcoming cooperative top-down shooter from Canadian development studio Tuque Games and it’s coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

To be published by Perfect World Entertainment, the game’s set in a post-human 22nd century where machines are waging an “infinite war against each other.”

Apparently, machines are the dominant life form because a gamma ray wiped humanity out.

Rogue Clusters, which are groups of mechanized armies, have taken over control of different territories following the corruption of their data. In order to combat this, satellite Super A.I SATCOM has taken the initiative to crack into backups of human consciousness known as Capital Intellects.

The remnants of human consciousness have been stored in large machines, which humanity built before being destroyed.

Along with the game’s announcement comes the first character reveal, Hex. Before humans were wiped out, Hex was a “renowned e-sports professional” and one of the first to participate in “a risky experiment to upload his consciousness to a database.”

Sounds rather interesting.

Livelock is slated for release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One this year, with more information promised soon.
