Can NBA Live 15's improved visuals stack up against NBA 2K15's?

NBA Live 15 has produced a new trailer aiming to demonstrate improvements to the sim's graphics since the franchise's muted return last year.

NBA Live 15 will be the second release in EA Sports' basketball sim series since the publisher put it on the back burner for a rethink. The stated intention of this rest period was so it come back strong enough to face off against the competition - namely 2K Sports' best-selling NBA 2K series.

Last year's entry, NBA Live 14, didn't seem to make much of a splash, but EA Tiburon is determined to have another go. This year, it's bringing all-new real-time physics, over 500 core gameplay improvements and "the most photo-realistic visuals in franchise history".

"We’re doubling down on visuals with an all-new scanning and lightning technique for the most photo-realistic player models in franchise history. Add into the mix player specific body types and contextual emotional responses and you will truly feel like you’re in the action," the developer wrote on the NBA Live website.

These additions are shown off in the new Visual trailer below. Cover athlete Damian Lillard plays a prominent role in the trailer, which is composed entirely of in-game footage, apparently.

EA Sports is promising more information on NBA Live 15 throughout the month, including in-depth details on gameplay, modes and feature improvements. The game itself is coming to PS4 and Xbox One in early October.
