Speaking in a video Q&A posted on Siliconera, producer Naoki Yoshida said when developing the expansion, the team was trying to decide whether to allow players to fly or swim. It chose the latter, which mean players can "expect to look to the skies in the coming expansion.”

The development roadmap was also discussed, with Yoshida stating the team is looking into adopting a development method which would allow it to "implement smaller updates" alongside the core release and update objectives.

Current Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn players on PlayStation 3 can now transfer their progress over to PS4, and the early access phase is also open to PS4 owners.
