Evil Genius headed to Facebook, Zynga from Rebellion

Aliens vs Predator and Sniper Elite V2 developer Rebellion has announced its first social game.

Polygon reports Rebellion is working on a social game called Evil Genius Online, a follow-up to the 2004 Elixir Studios title, which rebellion acquired the rights for in 2006.

The world domination sim is coming to Facebook and Zynga.com, will enable platers to "form evil syndicates, send spies to rival lairs and share rare and crucial items in the form of bribes" as part of its social suite.

It's the first free-to-play social title from the studio, although it has produced multiple mobile games.

"As an independent developer, it's crucial that we really explore free-to-play beyond mobile games," CEO and creative director Jason Kingsley said.

"We challenged a small team here in our Oxford studio to create a social game that was not only compelling, but technically impressive and we just kept coming back to Evil Genius - the lair construction, the strategy, the humor - it was just a perfect fit."

Rebellion mention it was interested in a new Evil Genius game back in February.

Evil Genius Online has not been dated, but a closed beta will be held during northern autumn; you can apply via a survey.
