It looks as though the only assistance BioWare’s lending to Maxis on the development of Darkspore happens to be in the writing department.

According to a report on Destructiod, writer Malcolm Azania will lead the fiction writing team Darkspore, and that’s it.’

Azania previously contributed to Mass Effect 2 DLC Kasumi’s Stolen Memory mission, as well as BioWare’s Facebook game, Gift of the Yeti.

Published stories by the writer include From the Notebooks of Doctor Brain and The Coyote Kings of the Space-Age Bachelor Pad, written under the pseudonym of Minister Faust.

Should be an interesting story for the RPG-actioner, then.

Darkspore was officially announced and shown during EA’s Summer Showcase and at Comic Con.

It’s out next year.
