Nintendo’s confirmed that New Super Mario. Bros Wii has sold over 2.5 million units in the EMEA region since it’s launch back in November.

Earlier this morning, Famitsu said the game was the fourth best selling game in Japan in 2009, with over 2.4 million units sold in the country last year.

The game debuted strongly enough in the UK: entering third in the charts, only beaten by Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin’s Creed II.

It is sixth in the latest UK charts, published yesterday.

Earlier today, Nintendo confirmed that over 20 million Wii units have been sold in Europe since it’s December 2006 launch in Europe.
