Nikkei: Wii to pass 50 million sales this month

wiia4’s predicted that Wii will pass the 50 million global sales barrier this month.

He machine went on sale in 2006.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata’s keynoting GDC this afternoon, so don’t be hugely shocked if this gets announced.

    Following the release of last night’s NPD figures, Sony’s confirmed that PS3 has now passed the 50 million sales mark and that motion controller Move has now sold more than 8 million units.

    PSP has now sold-in more than 50 million units globally, Sony announced today. Around 9 million units have been added to the console’s installed base since August 2008. The machine launched on December 12, 2004 in Japan; March 24, 2005 in the US; and September 1, 2005 in Europe.
