The Witcher series has sold over 5 million copies, CD Projekt RED has announced. Yesterday, the studio confirmed it is working on the third installment, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, set for a 2014 release. To celebrate both the new sales figures and the announcement The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition for Xbox 360 was given a permanent price drop, and The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition are 50% off until February 8 .

CD Projekt RED has announced it will soon release the REDkit, a suite of tools that will set the modding community loose on the PC version of its acclaimed RPG, The Witcher 2: Assassin’s of Kings. REDkit will enable the creation of non-linear adventures, new locations and more, according to the CDPR blog post on the matter; expect some scamp to ensure that “more” equates to “mature content”.

The polish company will be providing behind-closed-doors media presentations of REDkit at next week’s gamescom in Germany.

This year’s Games Developers Conference Europe has added post-mortems of CD Projekt’s, The Witcher 2, and Eskil Steenberg’s indie title, Love. Cryptic Studios will also be on hand to discuss user-generated content in MMOs. Other confirmed sessions include a post-mortem of thatgamecompany’s Journey, and Rare’s N64 classic, GoldenEye.

GDC Europe takes place in Cologne from August 13 – 15, on the eve of gamescom.

Those who’ve yet to pick up The Witcher 2 can purchase the Enhanced Edition on Steam for 15% off until April 23. That comes to $42.49, but it’s also available on GOG for the same price. The game releases on Xbox 360 yesterday, and owners of the PC version can now redeem the the Enhanced update.

The Enhanced edition of The Witcher 2 releases on April 16 for Xbox 360, and CD Projekt has put live the launch trailer for it. Those who already own the game on PC, can now pre-load the Enhanced version and the rest of the files can be obtained on Tuesday – all for free. Reviews for the game went live today as well, and all seems well and good in the land of Temeria on 360. Feast your eyes on the trailer below.

CD Projekt RED has announced players can now pre-download the Enhanced Edition update for the PC version of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The majority of the 10 GB update can be downloaded here, and come April 17 when it’s released for both PC and Xbox 360, the rest of the files can be applied.

CD Projekt RED has announced it will live stream its spring conference on April 5, where it will discuss the launch of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings – Enhanced Edition as well as the expansion of GOG.com. The firm also announced today that the Enhanced Edition for The Witcher 2 has gone gold for Xbox 360. More information on where to watch the stream will be released closer to the event. Cd Projekt has said it may face a problem when creating DLC for The Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 because the firm is used to releasing the content free to players, something Microsoft is not keen on.
