“Horror doesn’t fly” in the $60 market, says Bleszinski
In a lengthy personal blog post defending Dead Space 3′s action bent, Gears of War creator and self-professed horror fan Cliff Bleszinski has said triple-A doesn’t really support true survival horror any more. “The $60 disc based market horror doesn’t fly – it’s the ultimate ‘Campaign Rental’ that’s played for two days and traded in and I’m sure EA knows this. When we’re fully digital we’ll see more true horror games coming back. Look at Amnesia and Slenderman on PC,” he said.

Bleszinski on Saint’s Row: “Lose the gimps and dildos” to beat GTA
Ex-Epic designer Cliff Bleszinski has had a rather spectacular spleen-venting episode over on Twitter, in response to the sale of Saint’s Row to Koch Media. Bleszinski suggests that the series could give GTA a run for its money if it loses all of the dildos and immature content it’s known for. The series of tweets is actually pretty bloody spectacular.

Cliff Bleszinski to give PAX EAST 2013 keynote
Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski has signed on to give PAX East 2013′s keynote. Penny Arcade‘s Jerry “Tycho” Holkins describes the developer as having “seen a lot of shit” and “in a very good position to handle this format”. Bleszinski has never been particularly shy about speaking his mind and having left Epic is perhaps even more likely to serve up some interesting observations on the industry. Outspoken developers are something of a PAX keynote trademark – David Jaffe’s 2011 effort was particularly memorable. PAX East takes place in Boston from March 22-24. Some passes have already sold out.
Thanks, Destructoid.

Cliff Bleszinski wants to “fix” Resident Evil
Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski isn’t too impressed with the latest Resident Evil games, it seems. In a much-shared tweet, the former Epic staffer asked Capcom to call him, so that they could “fix Resident Evil. Together”. Capcom UK took it in good humour, suggesting only that Bleszinski bring pizza, and the developer later noted that his original comment had been “cocky“.
Resident Evil 6 produced very mixed reviews, although I’m not sure handing over to a western developer is quite the answer fans are looking for. Bleszinski seems to have a number of ideas as to where his career might go next.
