The Uncharted movie isn't dead and buried after all.

Variety has reported that producer and director, Joe Carnahan, will be writing the script for the Uncharted movie.

The project has been floating around for what seems like forever, and stumbled over its first hurdle back in 2010 when director David. O. Russell backed out.

Since then, it's been a whirlwind of reports on pushed back release dates and the coming-and-going of writers and directors.

Carnahan will be sticking to script writing, as he's scheduled to direct Bad Boys 3, so unless Sony want to delay the project again, that's as far as his involvement will go.

"In a perfect world I would love to do both," he said, "but right now, I’m only on board to write the script."

The Uncharted movie is slated for a 30 June 2017 release right now, so all being well, we'll get to see how it turns out next year.
