XCOM 2 natively supports Steam Controller

XCOM 2 doesn't have controller support on launch. Unless you have a Steam Controller.

Firaxis has announced that it's been working with Valve to add native Steam Controller support for XCOM 2. The feature is available starting today, launch day, for anyone with the controller.

This is just an initial configuration, however, and Firaxis said it's looking for feedback as well as other configurations the community comes up with. It's still unfortunate XCOM 2 does not support more popular PC controllers like the Xbox or PlayStation ones, at least on launch.

Here's what the official config currently allows you to do:

  • Use a different control scheme based on the in-game situation
  • Experience precise and responsive 1:1 camera controls using the touchpads in the Geoscape and the Tactical view
  • Instantly select your ability with the flexibility of the controller's Touch Menus

In addition, a new bundle is available that gets you the Steam Controller and a copy of the game at 40 percent discount. If you already had the game pre-ordered through Steam, you can still benefit from the discount on the controller if you decide to take the plunge.
