Facebook says it's "too early" to discuss large-scale shipments of Oculus Rift

Facebook has said it is "too early" to discuss large-scale shipments of Oculus Rift as the VR headset is still in the development stages.

Speaking during a call to investors, Facebook CFO David Wehner said the company had nothing to announce regarding the amount of stock it expected to ship.

"We have not announced any specific plans for shipment volumes in 2015 related to Oculus," Wehner said via GI.biz. "I just know that Oculus is very much in the development stage so it's early to be talking about large shipment volumes."

He did say Oculus was considered a "long-term growth area" for the company, echoing sentiments made by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg on more than one occasion.

Zuckerberg said last year a retail release was "months and months away" not years.
