Dark Souls finally gets rid of GFWL and moves to Steamworks

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition has finally made the move from Microsoft's Games for Windows Live to Steamworks.

A patch for the game is now available on Steam, according to the developer. A save date and achievements migration tool is also available, but only until later today.

A detailed set of migration instructions have been posted. They cover users who had bought the game on disc, bought the GFWL version through Steam, or any other feasible option. Of course going forward, the game will automatically support Steamworks for both future and existing copies.

The move to Steamworks is not without its issues however. Durante's DSfix mod will not work after you patch the game. Thankfully the new 2.3 version fixes most of those issues. And you really shouldn't play it without the mod.
