Watch Dogs is still the fastest-selling new IP in Europe, not Destiny

Following the launch of Destiny, publisher Activision came out saying that its the fastest-selling new IP, but according to Watch Dogs publisher Ubisoft, the feat only accounts for North America and UK, and not Europe.

A Ubisoft spokesperson told MCV UK that Destiny did not break that record in Europe as a whole, only in North America and the UK, according to GfK data, and maintained that Watch Dogs remains the fastest-selling new IP in Europe.

"Congratulations to Activision and Bungie for taking the title in North America and the UK, but Watch Dogs is still going strong and we’re proud of everything that the Watch Dogs team has accomplished so far."

It's an interesting state of affairs, no doubt. Presumably Watch Dogs achieved that by releasing on PC, which is still a strong platform in terms of sales in large parts of Europe.
