Uncharted film's theatrical release dated for June 10, 2016

The Uncharted film may not have a leading man cast yet, but that hasn't stopped Sony from giving it a theatrical release date.

According to a Sony pictures update on The Hollywood Reporter, Sony plans to release the Uncharted movie on June 10, 2016, filling the spot Amazing Spider-Man 3 previously held until it was pushed into 2018.

The screenplay for the film is being written by David Guggenheim, it will be produced Arad/Atlas Entertainment, and as previously reported, directed by Seth Gordon.

Gordon said last week the film would start shooting in early 2015.

Doug Belgrad, president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, said "June 10 is a great date for Uncharted."

"It's just the right place for this exciting action-adventure film," he said.
