The game will offer a new “fully-connected experience that launches players into a persistent online contest where every fight matters in a global battle for supremacy.” And will allow players for the first time in a Mortal Kombat game to choose from multiple variation of each character, something which Nether Realm says will will “impact both strategy and fighting style.”

Expect more details to drop next week. In the meantime you can have a look at the the pack shots in the galley at the bottom of the page.

Props to MP1st for grabbing the listings before Amazon killed them.

But that’s not all, because rapper Wiz Khalfia tweeted this out last night:

The same tag-line appeared on this spine-crunching Mortal Kombat X teaser poster. Check it out.

So then, is your body ready (to get torn apart by Fatalities)?

    Cross-gen in 2015? This and MGS The Phantom Pain are making baffling choices. The sales figures show that new gen = old gen. Anyway doesn’t matter it means upgrading will take far longer.

    Implying its a big upgrade anyways

    An upgrade is an upgrade, no matter the size.

    MK 9 was a good start in a new direction, hopefully this will build on that further. Would love to see an emphasis on new characters ala Street Fighter 3.

    It is my most anticipated game for E3 but the cross-gen part is indeed a bit worrying. Hopefully the team takes a cue from Guilty Gear Xrd or Shadow of Mordor by and focuses on the next-gen versions.

    Next gen games are getting dumbed down for last gen and is not good. Infamous second son, Ryse, and 2k14 are the only real next gen games

    Call me shallow, but one of the reasons why I dislike the series is not the cheap endboss, nor the fighting mechanic, or anything like that. It’s their models. Their legs are always too long, they seem to use only one model and build around that, instead of making each and every model unique. Their art-direction is (Ninjas being the exception) also very questionable at most times.

    They totally fuked up the video with this shitty “music”.

    Hope someone (YT please!) makes a version without the rap parts. The instrumental music was sweet and the trailer… CLASSIC (Though it was anti-Subzero as per usual. Bad Boon!).

    @Xbone

    Yeah, what a terrible choice.

    @YoungZer0
    Lol this isn’t street fighter with extremely exaggerated body proportions to separate the characters.
    Music was horrible but everything made me excited even the possibility of run making a well needed return?
    LOVE mortal Kombat!

    If the trailer has any bearing on story mode, it’ll be interesting to see what happens because the original Sub-Zero still turned into Noob Saibot, while the newer one became Cyber Sub-Zero before he died.

  21. YoungZer0

    @Doppleganger

    But Street Fighter isn’t trying to be realistic, that’s what makes it different. They really have to start with a completely fresh model for once. Because they still seem to use the same model they used for Mortal Kombat VS DC Years back.

    Wow, lots of rap hate here… I’m not the biggest fan but I thought it was effectively used in the trailer

    Looks nice and it appears they brought in the interactive elements from Injustice into the game if that was gameplay (which it could be, just with fancy camera angles).

    But, Christ, I had to mute that once that guy started that annoying rapping.

    #23 7 months ago
  24. Clupula

    If that music is in the actual game, I’m afraid I will not be buying it.

  25. silverstorm

    Unfitting music. Good trailer though.

  26. salarta

    I always find it amusing that a game having music someone doesn’t like can be considered legitimate grounds for complaint and refusal to buy the game, yet the same thing done toward a game for deviating so far from its source material that it shouldn’t even be part of the same franchise is considered whining. Apparently, music is far more important than story despite how you can easily mute bad music.

    #26 7 months ago
  27. YoungZer0

    @salarta
    Stop your whining, you whining whiner.

    Seriously, is there nothing that else that bothers you in your life?

    The music is highly unfitting, like the behavior of a character, or a character-design that does not fit into the environment. It’s as legit as any other criticism.

    It told you many times before, nobody would be bothered by your comments, it’s the repetition that diminishes its cause. It’s annoying and make you look obsessed.

    Imagine I would talk about the choice of music in this trailer in any article that has any sort of trailer in it.

    “Great choice of music, unlike MORTAL KOMBAT X? Where is the respect guys?!”

    If that’s not annoying, than it’s boring.

    Don’t be either of that.

  28. salarta

    I also like how the reasons change depending on what’s being discussed.

  29. Clupula

    @YoungZer0 You and I may never see eye to eye on many things, but I couldn’t have said it better than your rebuttal to Salarta. If he only said things once or twice, it’d be like, “Okay, that’s his reason, whatever.” But the fact that I know by memory which characters he has a weird waifu obsession with in which franchises bothers me greatly.

    Salarta, if every single time I posted, it was about how much I hated the music in the trailer, then I’d be half as annoying as you can be. But as he said, it’s about repetition. You’re repetitive. It’s annoying when it isn’t comical.

  30. Clupula

    Also, in the “How to be like Salarta” handbook, because I don’t like the music, I should be wishing that the company goes out of business and I should rant about how I’m boycotting the games until Ed Boon has nothing to do with them anymore.

  31. Clupula

    @Dave Cook SF3 was the game that killed fighting games for a reason. Partly because of it being almost all new characters.

    I just want this game as soon as possible.

  40. salarta

    @Sherif Saed Sounds like the existence of this Sub-Zero may be story-related after all, and may even involve something to do with multiple dimensions. If that’s true, it’s a good and smart extension of the timeline alteration element, and a way of keeping the original timeline intact while still doing new things.

    People will prob call me gay, it’s ok, cause I am. But one thing that really bothers me is the women in MK, they can make a whore blush, not one of them is not a silicon fest wearing “sexy” (in my opinion not sexy but almost pornographic) clothes.

    #41 7 months ago
  42. Sherif Saed

    @salarta I do wonder if this will cover all characters.

    #42 7 months ago
  43. unknown_gamer

    I’m not impressed at all . if they truly want to bring some nostalgia to the games they should have used modern sprites , the whole 3D looking thing around MK games since the PS2 era does not impress me at all

    #43 7 months ago
  44. salarta

    @Rafa_L All of them are most definitely hypersexual. I’m honestly surprised the team hasn’t made the women even more sexual, considering the Mortal Kombat franchise seems to have always focused on exploiting shock value in the past. Violence used to be the big shocker, today it’s sex.

    @Sherif Saed I doubt they’d include all the characters across the franchise, but I’m sure they’ll add some from past games that weren’t present in MK9. Still, I think if my theory is correct, it handles the story matters very nicely. The team can do things that appeal to them without leaving a slap in the face to a lot of the fans that got them where they are today in the process.

    Looks great and they kept the sniper elite kill cam.
    My Favorite characters are sub zero and scorpion. My favorite mortal kombat was 2, but 9 was pretty good as well, hope they can keep improving.

    Nice trailer, good choice of music for its target demographic.

    The costumes look like they’d either been taken from or would work well in a movie. Coincidence, or…? ;)
