You can pay £100 to get into this game's beta

Frontier Developments, developers of the upcoming space sim, Elite: Dangerous, are asking for £100/$150 of your hard-earned money, to get you into the game's beta.

Dubbed the premium beta, the pass will guarantee you access to the game's premium beta, along with a copy of the game and all future downloadable packs, once they're available. Another, and perhaps a more reasonable option, is the standard beta, which is priced £50.00/$75. This pass will let you play the beta once the premium phase has ended and will grant you a copy of the game.

"The start of the Premium Beta phase is another exciting moment in our development—from today we have over 10,000 additional people playing the game, " said creator David Braben. "This is a significant and sensible step-change with which to test the next level of scaling of our cloud-based systems and servers as we move towards the very large numbers of people we will eventually have playing."
