Is Rockstar working on the next handheld GTA?

Wednesday, 21st May 2014 18:21 GMT By Sherif Saed

A trademark filing by Take-Two, the parent company of GTA developers Rockstar, shows something with the name “City Stories” might be on the way.

vice city

The listing was registered by Take-Two and covers both “computer and video game programs and software” and “entertainment services, namely, providing online games.”

Traditionally, the City Stories moniker was added to handheld games produced in the Grand Theft Auto series, namely GTA: Vice City Stories and GTA: Liberty City Stories. Although as Gamespot notes, it could be the name of an upcoming DLC for GTA 5.

Unfortunately this could also mean Take-Two is just securing rights of the name for future endeavours and might not mean a new game is coming necessarily, but we do know that a Rockstar game is coming in 2015.

Any guesses?

A GTA on Vita could help with sales.

Don’t count on it, unfortunately 2′s suggestion is far more likely. With the grave Vita is in and the neglect by third parties and Sony, i don’t see why Rockstar N*/Leeds would boldly take the plunge.

Maybe in Japan, but elsewhere? No. No one knows its install base since Q1 2013 and no one knows how it is doing independently from their other handheld.

How does nobody not notice the misspelled title, shouldn’t it be ‘Handheld GTA’ not handled?

If that would release on a Vita then it would boost Vita sales by A LOT.
It’s not happening though. sony does not have money for such exclusive and Rockstar won’t bother with that handheld.

Wasting time on a freaking handheld when they’ve yet to bring GTAV (And RDR) to PC. This better not be true.

The City Stories were shite really as they were on a hardware that clearly could not handle that type of games.
Chinatown Wars on the other hand, now that’s something I’d love to play again.

yeah right they’re stupid enough to release on IOS/Handheld with tons of in app purchase,

it’s not like they had any respect for their game especially when it comes to earn money by putting 10x sniper rifle rounds @ 3,99$. On vita It’d by awesome but let’s not dream, they’ll choose the “”safe”" way (even if it would’ve been a killer system seller on vita)

A user on my fansite noticed that a City Stories logo appeared on LCS’s and VCS’s official site.
