Blizzard working on “top-secret project to be unveiled in 2014″ – report

Blizzard could be on the cusp of announcing a new game this year, if a LinkedIn profile is any indication.

Dug up by Internet sleuth Superannuation, the online resume states work is being done on a “top-secret project to be unveiled sometime in 2014.”

While this could be Blizzard’s Project Titan, it could be something else entirely as the firm filed a trademark for Overwatch last month as well as a lead producer job posting for “unannounced game title.”

Last thing we heard regarding Project Titan occurred in August 2013, when it was announced during a call to investors the game would “likely not” be a sub-based MMORPG as originally planned.

At the time, Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime said he would move some of Project Titan’s team members over to other titles in the interim while Project Titan was taken in a “new direction.”

He also said the project had yet to be “officially announced” and it was without a “projected release date.”

Morhaime emphasized the team had gone through this “type of iterative process several times in the past,” and the team remained committed to the project’s quality.

So while it could indeed be a new game in the works, “unannounced game title” could also be an expansion, extra content for Heroes of the Storm or HearthStone, or it could be Project Titan.

We’re all likely to find out come November 7- 8 during BlizzCon 2014.

Blizzard games are allways good, so no matter what it is, everyone has a right to be excited. Hopefully it’s an MMO though.

It’s not going to be a MMO probably. They killed the idea of a MMO because the market is currently not really good for that. Too much MMO already and too much high quality F2P at the moment – (LoL, dota, Wildstar, Heroes of the storm, EQ Next and etc.)

That would be awesome if they could announce new iP or Warcraft IV.

Could also be LotV, as that hasn’t been announced yet either..
Though i highly doubt that would be called a “Top secret project”, so it probably isn’t :P

How awesome wouldn’t it be if it was like The Witcher games but set in the World of Warcraft universe….that would make my head explode. I would literally run naked around the house screaming my lungs out.

You have the witcher games for running around naked, sir. Blizzard has no experience in the SP RPG genre, none. And the lore of the Witcher book/games is also more complex and unique than the generic western fantasy Warcraft displays, even though I loved the story of Warcraft III and FT. More games like the upcoming Witcher 3 (at least the idea behind such a game, since TW3 isn’t out yet) would be better for every RPG fan, but TW3 is already more exciting, than what you’re describing.

Not to mention the fact, that Cyberpunk made by CDPR is probably one of the most exciting gaming ideas ever IMO, and this project is already underway, has been for some time.

How about a Star Wars KotOR III with such a mindset? With all the lightsaber swordplay taking place (just as in TW3), an action RPG set across many, many planets, each one just as big as TW3′s islands of Skellige? That would be badass.

Maybe a World of Darkness game? Where you pick a vampire, werewolf, or a mage and embark on an epic story, each different (except for sidequests) for every type of character you pick, set in…let’s say modern day London, or Paris, or both.

I would also like to finally see a good RPG game set in W40K universe, or maybe even WFRP.

Warcraft doesn’t really seem that appealing.

I do love diablo 3 one of my magical gaming moments, alongside halo CE, and nintendo titles, whatever it is i hope it comes to consoles.

I guess it’s the new project lead by former Turtle Rock boss Mike Booth, probably the one codename/trademarked “Overwatch”?
