Guerrilla Games’ new IP has been in development for two and a half years already

Tuesday, 25th February 2014 08:49 GMT By Dave Cook

Killzone: Shadow Fall studio Guerrilla Games has published a behind-the-scenes video that looks into the team’s culture, and features confirmation that he outfit’s new game is over two-and-a-half years into development.

Around about the two minute mark, Executive Producer Angie Smets says, “Well, we are working on a new IP, and we started on that already two-an-a-half years ago but unfortunately we cannot share details yet of the new IP, so you’ll have to be a bit more patient.”

The video was intended for the Japanese market to go with the PS4′s launch there on Saturday. The console has sold over 300,000 units across the country since February 22.

I suspect this new Guerrilla Games IP will be announced at E3.

Every Sony studio is working on PS4 games, all due to be announced throughout this year, so it seems pretty likely that this would be among them & what better time to show another AAA game?

E3 gives them a good few months to give the game that extra bit of polish.

I wonder if they’ve stuck with the 1st person genre or whether they’ve moved into something the exact opposite of Killzone.

It seems unlikely that they’d go with a 3rd person, action title, it’s already known that PS4′s got 3 of those in development, with Infamous Second Son releasing next month, The Order 1886 later this year & the as yet unseen/untitled Uncharted game.

Maybe Sony will keep them as their go to hardcore action FPS guys, but I get the impression that Sony likes to let their developers have freedom to be as creative as they like.
Exclusive FPS games are lacking & since GG are so good at making them I would guess this title will be within that genre.

I suspect this is going to be the 1st of many hints from different Sony studios, to get gamers hyped for what’s to come.
IMO expect a number of announcements a GDC next month, it’s possible this may be among them, hopefully whatever it is will show at least a glimpse of real time gameplay.

    Exciting times!

It’s nice to have such a big name in my home town, and I believe they have amazing capabilities. It’s just too bad that so far they have only created games I have very little interest in.
So I really hope this new IP is something totally different, something more inspired.
