UK game charts: Call of Duty Ghosts stays top, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes lifts to third

Monday, 16th December 2013 10:39 GMT By Dave Owen

For the third week in a row Activision’s Call of Duty: Ghosts finds itself sitting pretty atop the UK game charts. That brings its overall tally to five weeks at number one. Meanwhile FIFA 14 retained second spot, while LEGO Marvel Super Heroes took bronze.

Sony properties Gran Turismo 6 dropped from eighth to tenth, with PS4 exclusive Killzone: Shadow Fall leaving the top ten. Xbox One exclusive Dead Rising 3 enjoyed a jump in sales, lifting it eleven places to eighteenth.

Super Mario 3D World slid right down to twenty-ninth, though that did put it above Ryse: Son of Rome and Knack, the first time it has out-sold the poorly-reviewed PS4 platformer.

I see three bombas published by the Big three, Mario, Knack and Ryse, oh well. And the rest is just the usual yearly UK shopping list.

Why you talking about Mario being outsold by Knack…those comments just represent poor journalism, as titles like £30 angry birds are out selling it, and that cost 69p on Moblie.

Stop following what other poor journalists are saying on other sites

Both Knack and Mario 3D are fantastic games. I enjoy both of them. Good on both of them being still hanging in there.

How the hell is Aliens Colonial Marines still in the top 50? So many people slagged that game. Where is Batman Origins, Telltales the Walking Dead etc.

That is not poor journalism. Mario 3D being outsold by a not-so-well-received platformer (And a new IP at that one) was a sign of major shift in the market and a hot topic during previous UK sales reports.

Now that it has overtaken Knack, it is at least showing that the game has some legs. Just because they are considered “Negative Nintendo News” that are not too favorable for your preferred brand, doesn’t mean that they should be ignored by journalists. If anything, trying to ignore such facts would be fanboyish and in spirit of bad journalism.
