Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn passes 1.5 million registrations

Friday, 25th October 2013 11:41 GMT By Dave Cook

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn developer Square Enix has stated that its MMO has passed 1.5 million registrations. It comes ahead of the game’s Halloween celebration event All Saint’s Wake.

No wait, not that kind of All Saints. Jesus…

I wrote about the All Saint’s Day celebration here, as well as the new Wolve’s Den PvP arena.

Famitsu is reporting that Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn has passed the milestone, but it’s unclear how many of those people are actually still playing the MMO. It’d be interesting to see the stats in full, and we’ll update you should they be made public.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn is coming to PS4 in 2014.

According to Raptr I just hit the 550 hour mark since the open beta… got to say the numbers are well deserved.

My only quibble is with end-game limitations – to fully gear one class in AF2 you must earn 5900 tombs (currency), but you are limited to only be able to farm 300 a week… that’s 20 weeks to get full gear and only on a single class. I understand why the limitation is there (stops everyone from destroying the final dungeons quickly), personally though I think the limit is too low, and hope it will be patched further down the line.

On the plus side, the Relics are now surprisingly easy to get! Currently have Bard and Warrior Relics, and hoping to move onto Paladin once I have it at level 50 :D

A great recovery by Square Enix, and I look forward to future improvements.

Registrations, or paying subscriptions… big difference.

I have characters on three different servers and they’re constantly full of people. I’m guessing the paying subs are pretty close to the registered users. I know a ton of people that have switched from wow to this game.
