Minecraft 1.6 "Horse Update" now available as a pre-release

Minecraft 1.6 is now available as a pre-release. Also known as the "Horse Update”, it's not scheduled for a full release until next week.
All sorts of new things have been added, and you will need to download the new launcher as well.
Come July 1, the game will include the following additions:
Horses
Donkeys, Mules
Horse Armor
Leads
Carpets
Hardened Clay, Stained Clay
Block of Coal
Name Tags (item)
Hay Bales
Texture packs are now “resource packs” that also can hold sound
Food meter is now drained when healed by full food meter
Removed Herobrine
