Sniper Elite V2 missing co-op on Wii U, gamers say

Tuesday, 28th May 2013 05:42 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Unverified reports suggest the Wii U version of Sniper Elite V2 is missing the online co-op mode which proved popular among players of the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions.

NintendoLife reports Miiverse and Twitter users are complaining that the Wii U version is missing Kill Tally, Bombing Run and Overwatch modes – online co-op modes found in all three existing versions.

Sniper Elite V2 does not support competitive multiplayer and there are no plans to bring the DLC to Nintendo’s platform, making the Wii U version almost entirely an offline affair.

The news comes of something of a surprise, as does the game itself – it apparently turned up in North American and European stores this week, but there was press release or marketing push to herald its arrival. The port was announced in February and almost immediately went silent.

As Sniper Elite V2 hasn’t made its way to Australia on Wii U, we’ll have to wait for European business hours to request official comment on the matter.

Rebellion Developments seems quite pleased with the success of Sniper Elite V2; a sequel is on the way, and a spin-off was released on PC recently.

Thanks, Joystiq.

Was this feature advertised for the Wii U version? Because if it was, the game is gonna have some serious legal troubles.

@1 – Not really. No one will sue over a feature that later gets taken out. I can name about ten games that had features that were advertised before launch that were not in the final versions.

I mean, just off the top of my head, the 360 version of Street Fighter X Tekken was missing the ability for two people to play on the same system against two people online, which is a feature that was on the PS3 version and supposedly confirmed for both.

The Wii U version of Injustice does not have lobbies, nor the ability to invite friends to a match. I remember trailers that showed all three logos at the end, that showed the King of the Hill lobbies.

This is a common thing and any lawsuit would be thrown out of court.

The PC version has deathmatch and team deathmatch modes.

The sequel to Rebellion’s highly-acclaimed 2005 game Sniper Elite, Sniper Elite V2 continues to offer gamers the most authentic World War II sniping experience by putting them in the middle of war-torn Berlin amidst the frenzied final battle between German and Russian forces. With an emphasis on learning to handle the anticipation and pressure of the hunt, players are forced to use skill, patience and cunning to achieve their missions as they find themselves facing life-altering choices. The celebrated “bullet cam” from Sniper Elite makes its return and will be more gratifying than ever. Skillful shots are rewarded with a slow-motion sequence of the bullet running its full trajectory from barrel to target as well as featuring graphic detail of the effects of the bullet entering and destroying a target.

Sniping Simulation – Sniper Elite V2 features detailed sniping simulation with advanced ballistics, taking into account gravity, wind, velocity, bullet penetration, aim stability and more. Guaranteed to provide players with the most realistic simulation of military sharpshooting yet available.
X-Ray Kill Cam – Amazing “kill cam” technology showcases what really happens when a bullet enters an enemy’s body, allowing players to see hearts and lungs tear, livers burst, bones and teeth shatter and entrails fall out.
Authenticity – The game features authentic World War II Berlin locations as well as vehicles, weapons such as the Springfield M1903, the Gewehr 43 and the Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 and uniforms modeled after the original versions.
Use The Environment – The slightest changes in the environment need to be taken into account to move into the perfect position, observe the quarry, take the shot and slip away unnoticed.
Snipers Choice – Players will often find themselves facing a choice of the perfect shot that leaves them catastrophically exposed or a more difficult route that means they can continue their mission.
    Multiplayer – Two Player Co-Op <—–

you copied that from a website though, right? like I see amazon has that same description. if places like amazon just copied and pasted the “normal” description onto all different versions and it doesn’t actually say that on the box that’s not the developers’ problem.
