Battlefield 4: “Big announcements are coming soon”

Tuesday, 21st May 2013 04:58 GMT By Phil Owen

We know that the next-gen Xbox reveal taking place tonight will show off next-gen FIFA and next-gen Call of Duty, but we expect that many of the big game announcements will be left for Microsoft’s E3 press conference. But it could be that we’ll find out something about Battlefield 4 at the imminent event.

Now, let us to refer back to a relevant February rumor, which said that EA and Microsoft were working on a deal to produce exclusive games for the new platform, along with some exclusive or timed-exclusive DLC for multiplatform games. Our best guess would be that Microsoft landed temporary exclusive windows for Battlefield 4 DLC, much as the PlayStation 3 had with Battlefield 3 content.

Or, this could be something else, and this tweet’s proximity to the Xbox event could be a coincidence. In which case I would have no guesses as to what this would be about.

You’d think it would have to be a bit more substantial than a bit of extra content. MS has an hour to show off the machine and it’s said this presentation is concentrating on hardware – though will be showing some games. To give a big chunk of that to EA to show off the latest of all it’s games, there has to be something quite substantial in there doesn’t it? To be able to showcase all this stuff at an event like this is big for EA, if it’s all multi-platform anyway then MS has given away a big chunk of the attention which should be on NextBox to EA.

    Yeah, definitely.

I don’t think we’re just looking at some timed DLC, here.

Why would EA not have anything on show for the PS4, and then openly dis the Wii U, just to save themselves for announcing some timed DLC?

    That makes no sense.

It’s definitely possible that EA are ditching PS4, for a while at least.

They can still rely on PS3 sales, while waiting for PS4 numbers to pick up.

Battlefield 4 for Xbox event seems unlikely. MS: “Hey, look at this Call of Duty demo. Isn’t it nice? Now look at some Battlefield demo!”.
