CoD Ghosts: Sledgehammer not involved, team “heads down” on new project

Thursday, 2nd May 2013 08:41 GMT By Dave Cook

Call of Duty: Ghosts was unveiled for current and next-gen formats last night, revealing at long last what Infinity Ward has next in store. Modern Warfare 3 co-developer Sledgehammer Games has confirmed that it is not involved, and is currently working on something new.

The team tweeted out a congratulatory message to Infinity Ward last night:

This begs the question, ‘What are they working on?’ Last we heard, back in November the team was hiring for a senior environmental artist. The advert said, “We are actively recruiting top talent for our Call of Duty development team.”

You don’t get much clearer than that. But still, the question remains.

What do you think?

Thanks MP1st.

This could be a quality COD title given how long its been in development for, this could be interesting and dare i say truly innovative.

    Well, that’s interesting…

Assuming that its been in the making since the release of IW’s last game, longer than BF4, thats for sure.

Longer than 2 years as per usual with Call Of Duty games.

@6, Links please about “Longer than 2 years”. Where someone said it?

@5, You can pretty much shut up here because the team that is making Battlefield 4 is a Bad Company team and their last game was in 2010 March.
DICE has three teams. 2 developers and 1 Frostbyte engine developer.

While guys at Activision have crappy devs that only implemented Havoc in Black Ops 2, guys at DICE already made Frostbyte 3.0 that looks gorgeous with separable enchanced bokeh depth of field and improved tesselation. No one still beat Frostbyte 2.0 to this date.

Let’s see what engine CoD has. Maybe Id Tech 4 this time around. Progress.

Man , this is gonna be the most ridiculous COD ever….sledgehammer ? really ? ! the only thing they’ve achieved is MW3 which was nothin but a frustrating game

Yeah as aaron_avelino stated (Thanks BTW) its been in development for more than two years and considering its clearly not coming out this year it might 2014/15, its longer than the usual COD rinse and repeat cycle. Sledgehammer had a hand in development of MW3 but surely not everyone helped out.
