FIFA 14 headed to Vita, Amazon listing suggests

Friday, 26th April 2013 02:48 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Officially, FIFA 14 has been announced for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but it looks to be headed to Vita as well.

Amazon has listed the latest football sim for Vita, and unlike many placeholders, this one is replete with details which make it look quite convincing.

The portable effort is listed as releasing on September 24, at $40 – significantly cheaper than the $60 the retailer wants for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions.

FIFA 13 came out on practically everything – 3DS, PSP, PS2, Wii and Wii U in addition to the platforms listed above – so it’s not hellishly surprising to hear something similar might happen this year, despite the Vita’s rather muted presence in our lives.

The latest entry in one of EA’s top two franchises was formally unveiled earlier this month; see the first FIFA 14 gameplay footage here.

I’m sceptical. Last year’s Fifa 13 on Vita was actually the PS3 version of Fifa 11. Could have been a big Vita seller with PS3 cross-play, cross-save, instead it was a cheap port of an old game.

Fingers crossed for it to actually be Fifa 14. Sony needs to drop the price of the Vita though.

^No they don’t need to drop the price, its already been proven that games sell hardware all a price drop will do is just temporarily increase sales of PS Vita and probably some old games, without a steady stream of games its pointless until September is when a price drop should occur.

@2 Good Point actually. With a price drop, consumers will be able to purchase software across the Vita and PS3 much more comfortably though. Also Vita’s memory sticks are ridiculously priced, should have just been an upgradeable hardrive like a smartphone. Here’s hoping the inevitable Vita redesign has one.
