Witcher 3 dev confirms three playable epilogues, moral summaries

Tuesday, 26th March 2013 13:03 GMT By Dave Cook

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt RED has confirmed its RPG will feature three playable epilogues dependent on your moral choices throughout the game.

Speaking with Polygon the studio’s managing director Adam Badowski explained that like all good epilogues, the Witcher 3′s endings will summarise your moral choices from the game’s start, right up to its end.

Depending on what you choose you will end up on one of three epilogues set against one oe 36 different world states.

Said Badowski, “The game is quite complex. We didn’t mean to develop something special for the endings, it’s a natural consequence of the story line. The story has hundreds of different branches and sub plots. We have to just sum all of those elements up in the epilogues.

“Some of those elements are taken from the very beginning and some from other moments of the storyline. All of them will connect in the epilogue. We have a lot of things to summarize. We didn’t spend time on inventing endings, it was just the consequence of those choices.”

Earlier this month the studio told VG247 about the depth of The Witcher 3′s ambitious ideas and the expansive game world. Read what they had to say here.

I hope that all this emphasis on story doesn’t mean they neglect the more important aspects of the game (combat, animation, progression system).

Dragon’s Dogma really spoiled me on those departments.

Assassin of Kings was awesome. I cannot wait foe Wild Hunt. CDProjekt’s consequence outstrips anything Mass Effect did. Hopefully, Cyberpunk 2077 does the same thing.

3rd paragraph: ‘of’ instead of ‘oe’.

I’m more interested in CyberPunk… But the Witcher series has such positive word of mouth I’ll definitely give this a bash :-)
