Maxis is looking into a way of fixing traffic and pathfinding bugs that currently plague SimCity.
Lead gameplay scripter Guillaume Pierre discussed the problems in a recent blog post. Many players have complained about the behaviour of cars, delivery trucks and other vehicles which often take too long to reach their destination, or miss it entirely.
Pierre indicates EA is looking into a way of providing certain stops as “high priority”, ensuring they will be visited first. He also suggests improvements will be made to the game’s traffic system, which pushes all vehicles along the same path to a single destination, creating congestion.
“We’re looking into various ways to improve the situation so traffic will spread out better,” Pierre confirmed.
