Liberation Maiden out now on iOS

Liberation Maiden, Goichi Suda’s 3DS shooter, has made a surprise appearance on iDevice.

The game was first spotted on the New Zealand App Store, where new releases tend to pop up first before unlocking in other territories as the day wears on; check your local store in the morning if you can’t grab it yet.

It’s NZ $6.49 so expect somewhere around the $5 mark – less than from the 3DS eShop, according to Destructoid.

Liberation Maiden was part of Level-5′s Guild01 compilation, and is concerned with the crime-fighting adventures of the high school-aged President of Japan and her flying mech. Yes, it is pretty good, well spotted.

^ did you played it already? If not, shut your trap! Really, where does all those creeps come from?

I have both versions, on the 3DSXL and on my iPad4. It looks absolutely gorgeous on the iPad – bigger screen is always better. They managed to implement the controls properly, imo. There is a virtual joystick, yes, but it works just fine because of the other, more crucial mechanic: tapping the enemies to shoot them. Just like on the Nintendo. But where you need to hold a stylus (which is often awkward imo) on the 3DS, you can tap (and hold) the enemies on the iPad more naturally.

It’s a nice shooter from GM & Level-5, short but stylish.
