Aliens: Crucible gameplay footage turned up – rumour

Tuesday, 19th February 2013 21:41 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Aliens: Crucible was in development at Obsidian Entertainment in 2008 and 2009, but was shelved before it saw the light of day. A thirteen minute gameplay video purporting to showcase the cancelled project shows a third-person shooter with sassy AI companions.

The video comes courtesy of Unseen64, which specialises in leaks of unreleased titles. The site claims the footage is from an unfinished, in-development build.

A brief animation reel for the title turned up this week and bears some similarities.

Obsidian went on to produce modern day espionage RPG Alpha Protocol before returning to other company’s franchises with Fallout: New Vegas and Dungeon Siege 3.

I only wish for *one* decent Aliens game. Is it too much to ask?

It seems that Obsidian has got te largest list of cancelled and turned down pitched projects.

Kinda wish there was a way to play those cancelled games. I mean just to build up my own idea of how potentially good they could have been.

@1 I know. It’s been long enough since the movies released, you’d think someone would’ve nailed it by now.

I wonder how long it will be before somebody tries to tackle an Aliens game again, given the track record.
