NPD: Xbox 360 shifts 1.4M units for 24 month streak

The NPD Group's regular monthly report has crowned the Xbox 360 king of the US market for a full two years.

December saw Microsoft shift 1.4 million Xbox 360 consoles, making it the best-selling console of the month, with moe than twice the unit sales of its closest competitor.

The Xbox 360 has now held onto the title of best-selling console for 24 consecutive months.

Microsoft said total spend on Xbox 360 hardware, games and accessories reached $1.27 billion during December.

The Xbox 360 had a look in with seven of the top ten best selling software titles during the holidays, too - Halo 4, Assassin’s Creed 3, Just Dance 4, NBA 2K13, Far Cry 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Madden NFL 13.

"We expect 2013 will be another big year for Xbox 360 and we’re eager to continue to expand and grow the offerings available on the platform," Microsoft said.
